The practice of Taekwondo at Family Martial Arts is the core art that is being taught. The art is taught all over the world by different practitioners that either teaches from a syllabus that is enforced by an association or governing body or by somebody that reflects their own style.
I believe that Taekwondo is a personal journey for an individual to express their own strengths with, just like Bruce Lee did with his Jeet Kune Do. My journey into Taekwondo began with a strictly laid out syllabus that was being followed by a governing body where every body had to achieve the results specified to move up through the belt system. This I found ok for some, but noticed that so many would leave. Their own reasons, varying from boredom of practicing the same thing time and time again or perhaps limitations of their own ability to perform movements and techniques within the governing body’s criteria so there fore not feeling the point to carry on worthy. There are always other factors that also restrict or stop a person’s journey into Taekwondo. This, I choose to address and make sure that all that trained with us could see a benefit and that all can achieve positive results within their own capabilities.
Taekwondo translates to Kick or smash with the foot or hand and the art, way or method.
So to me, I believe that if someone can and does follow this way, then they are doing their own form of Taekwondo and can be coached or taught to improve their ability to their own strengths and although a syllabus should be followed by a school, it should however, also be flexible to allow for the different types of practitioners that attend.
